Fun For Everyone

Besides relaxing, swimming, and reading there are many fun things to do when you're feeling a bit more active. The fishing is excellent (you can read about that more below) and these activities are popular as well:

Snorkeling/DivingBoating

You can also see what events are happening on nearby islands the month you're planning on coming.

Fishing

Reef Fishing You may go on your own in the cottage's whaler or better yet, bring some lunch and go with Will Key from Hope Town who will provide the tackle and bait you need for the day's catch, which you can then BBQ on the BBQ outside your cottage.

Deep Sea Fishing The deep sea fishing in this part of the Bahamas is famous. If you'd like to deep sea fish, we can arrange a charter for you, or you can contact one of the charters in Hope Town. One that we've recommended in the past is the 'Sea Gall', a 27 ft. Ocean Fishing Boat captained by Truman. All the tackle & bait needed is provided onboard, just bring your own drinks & lunch. You'll be hard pressed not to catch a Shark, Barracuda, King Fish, Tuna, Wahoo, Dolphin or Grouper. At the end of the trip your catch will be cleaned for you included in the price.

A 23 foot boat with 200HP Yamaha outboard is also available to rent for customers who'd like to go out deep sea fishing on their own. About two minutes away is Tiloo Cut, where a hook/sink and line will get you all the snappers, grunts, yellowtail or triggerfish you'd want.

If you'd like to bone fish we're lucky to have?Maitland Lowe AKA?'Bonefish Dundee' nearby, who's the best in the area and will take out anyone who'd like to do some local bonefishing.

Other Water sports

Snorkeling/Diving

The snorkeling and diving in this area is fabulous - the 2nd best live coral reef in the Western Hemisphere about 13 minutes away from the cottage. You can easily snorkel for hours, just looking at the coral or watching the thousands of fish and turtles swimming by. You can easily rent mask, fins and snorkel in town, but we recommend that you bring an underwater camera!

For Scuba Divers there are a few operators located within 5-10 minutes from the cottage, who can take you out to see and feed the giant groupers, moray eels and the rest of the incredibly varied fish and sea life in the area. Any one of these would of course offers to fill tanks for your own Scuba Trip.

Boating

The use of two boats is included in the rental price of the cottage, including a 13' Boston Whaler with 25HP Yamaha engine. We make sure the boats are in top top shape upon your arrival, and that the Whaler's 6 gallon gas tank is full and that it's life jackets, oar and anchor are on board. For those unfamiliar with watercraft, we slowly go over operation of both with all guests after they arrive.

If you're interested in an upgrade, there are many excellent boat rental companies in the area and we'll assist you in renting a larger boat if desired.

Surfing

Bring your own board and take the boat 5 minutes across the bay to Elbow Cay where the Atlantic Ocean often brings up a super surf. Surfers from across the US come here year long to surf. The water's warm and it's great fun!

Shopping

Hope Town, 10-15 minutes away by boat, offers 2 grocery stores, 3 boutiques, telephone station, post office, clinic, a small drug store, a liquor store, restaurants, a bakery, dive shop and Lighthouse.

Man-O-War, 20 minutes by boat, offers 2 grocery stores, 2 snack bars, bakeries, boutiques, and a sail shop that makes handbags.
