Welcome to the Bahamas!

The Bahamas are the closest of the Caribbean islands to North America and make an easy transition and a much shorter flight from Canada or the United States than many other popular southern locations. It is a different country however, so there are some things you'll need to plan for:

What documentation will I need?

Proof of citizenship is imperative; you will need your passport, your voter's registration card or your birth certificate. A driver's license alone will not be acceptable, however, if that's all you have, another picture ID will be required in addition. Please have your proof of citizenship on your person, not in your luggage, when departing the U.S

What is the currency and exchange rate?

The currency is the Bahamian dollar and it is at par with the US dollar.

Are you allowed to bring food into the Bahamas? Should we bring food?

Yes, you are allowed to bring any food except for fruit. The water to drink and bathe with is collected from the rain - it is clean and excellent to drink. The following however is a list of some staples that are expensive in the Bahamas and that you may want to bring with you:
breakfast cereal, milk, vegetables, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, shampoo, garbage bags, beer. (You are allowed to bring 1 case, (24 cans) per person)
NOTE: All liquor, except beer, is less expensive here than in the United States!

Anything else we should know?

Pack as light as possible. Dress on the islands is casual. Large bags are difficult to handle on the smaller planes, so carry smaller, preferably "soft" type bags. For divers, tanks and weights are available at resort locations, so only bring personal gear

How much is the rental price of the cottage?

We have all the rental information, including the best way to get here, on our reservations page.

If you have any other questions contact us and we'd be more than happy to answer them.
